Garmin Connect integration
HardReps is a commercial coaching and training platform for athletes and coaches. The planned integration uses only the official Garmin Connect Developer Program and will remain disabled until Garmin approves HardReps and supplies API credentials.
Purpose and requested APIs
- Activity API: receive completed running, cycling, swimming, strength and other activities selected by the user.
- Training API: send structured workouts and training plans selected by the athlete or coach to Garmin Connect and compatible Garmin devices.
- Health API: receive user-authorized summaries such as steps, sleep, stress and heart rate when those metrics are enabled for coaching.
Data flow
- The user chooses “Connect Garmin” in HardReps.
- The user is redirected to Garmin’s official OAuth 2.0 authorization screen and approves specific permissions. HardReps never receives the Garmin password.
- Garmin sends authorized activity or health updates to the HardReps server through the official API flow.
- HardReps displays imported data, compares planned and completed training and makes it available to a coach only when the athlete has connected that coach.
- When requested, the HardReps server sends a selected structured workout to Garmin Connect through the Training API.
Security
API credentials and OAuth tokens are kept server-side, transmitted over HTTPS, restricted to necessary services and excluded from the mobile application and logs. HardReps will use least-privilege API scopes, validate callbacks, control administrative access and monitor failures. It will not use unofficial Garmin endpoints, scrape Garmin Connect or collect Garmin login credentials.
Consent, retention and deletion
Garmin data is processed only after explicit user authorization. Users can revoke access in Garmin Connect or disconnect Garmin in HardReps. Collection then stops, and previously imported data can be deleted by request. Details are in the HardReps Privacy Policy.
AI statement
HardReps includes AI-assisted program generation, but Garmin data is not used to train external AI or large-language models. Without a specific notice and required consent, Garmin data is not sent to external generative-AI providers.
